White Elephant
  JERRY BROWNING

 NAKED DREAMS

White Elephant

what was once playboy
has become better homes
and oriental gardens
we've become business week
like the old magazines-
rolling stone, cosmo
and ebony

we know it's not right
this isn't a dream
all of the grown ups
acting like teens,
chasing life's passions
but lose everything
that means anything

we've evolved into free
spirits trapped
in a wind tunnel test
monitored torment
passed to the future,
the new aged
elephant gift
