Tainted Charm
  JERRY BROWNING

 ..FOLLOWING SEAS

Tainted Charm

weary pilgrim

taxidermed

on a dogwood cross

blood oozing

dripping paint

into time’s abyss,

your message grows

like cancer

maniacs use your name

to maim…destroy

the abstract world

you taught

and suffered

and died to sire

don’t you clinch

   an angry fist?

your era crowned

the ludicrous symbol,

i wear a chain

with tainted charm

the lethal needle

Atlantic Ocean ‘89
